A house party in California
Sale hosted by U. of California’s Center for Women’s Health
Host a Beadwork Party or Art Sale
To support economic development in South Africa, Art Aids Art represents South African artists through house parties and community art sales. We feature a wide variety of handmade beaded dolls and animals, artisan jewelry, fabric and wearable art, which we sell directly to the public to avoid high markups.
Here’s how it works:
As part of our mission to support economic development, artists are paid up front according to Fair Trade prices that they establish. Additional profits from art sales are reinvested into Art Aids Art’s projects serving AIDS-impacted families in Cape Town.
We encourage you to consider hosting a party or sale!
You determine a place where the sale will take place -- the key is to know that you will have an audience. Next, we agree on a convenient time. Sales are generally two hours long, with time for a brief presentation on our projects. Venues have included private homes, faith centers and other places where communities gather.
We provide you with invitations, which you send to your friends and colleagues (or, if they are internet users, we send email invitations to eliminate postage costs).
We send you merchandise, literature, table coverings and a CD with info on our projects. You and a few friends set up the displays. Guests arrive, and you have a great time enjoying beautiful artwork and discussing how lives are being transformed through the sale. There is something for any budget – items range from $6-$250.
Contact us by email if you would like to host a party or sale.
